Marla D. Jackson grew up in Camilla Georgia. She is a graduate of Mitchell-Baker High School and studied English and Education at Georgia Southern University. Marla holds Bachelor and Master degrees in English and an MPA with a concentration on Human Resources from Albany State University in Albany Georgia. Marla began writing while attending Albany State University. She won an essay contest for her essay about Zora Neale Hurston. She has written other essays about W. E. Dubois and Toni Morrison, as well as an essay entitled, The Struggle of Women in the South. Currently, she teaches English at Albany Technical College, has been working toward a doctorate in Educational Technology from Walden University.
